Our visionary architectural project at Tharangambadi represents sustainable revitalization by blending historical preservation with contemporary allure. Located on a 4-acre plot facing the Danish Fort at Tranquebar, a sustainable masterplan proposal was developed for the TN Tourism Board. The project is divided into five thoughtfully designed zones, focusing on cultural enrichment & eco-friendly principles.
Tharangambadi’s rejuvenation offered an exciting opportunity for innovative landscaping & master- planning, challenging us to craft beautiful & functional spaces within budgetary & regulatory constraints.
The first zone features a welcoming green space with ample parking & a magnificent fountain that sets the tone for the area. A beautifully maintained herbal garden leads to the site’s central focus – a striking clock tower designed to complement the surrounding architecture containing landscapes & two majestic sculptures. The central zone leads to another exquisitely landscaped garden with winding pathways for a serene stroll. Vendor shops & seating nearby offer lively activity within a beautifully framed landscape.
The third zone features stepped seating that integrates vendor shops & landscaping, overlooking an outdoor museum with bespoke bamboo pavilions. A nearby souvenir shop serves the Tharangambadi tourists. In the final zone, beachside shacks offer sea views, paired with a playground for relaxation.
This sustainable project enhances Tharangambadi, creating a vibrant, historically enriched space for tourists & locals.
